Ingredients
  

Chicken

  • 4 thighs chicken thighs
  • 4 legs chicken legs

Bacon

  • 4 slices turkey bacon optional

Vegetables

  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • 1 cup shallots sautéed
  • 1 cup celery sautéed
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme chopped

Other Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry apple cider
  • 1 cup cream optional
  • 2 medium apples fried, for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet, sauté shallots and celery in butter or oil until softened.
  • Add chicken thighs and legs, cooking until browned on all sides.
  • Pour in dry apple cider and add fresh thyme, bringing to a simmer.
  • Transfer the mixture to a casserole dish, cover, and bake for 1.5 hours.
  • Optionally, stir in cream just before finishing baking.
  • Fry apple wedges until golden and serve on top of the casserole.

Notes

The addition of apples is highly recommended for a tangy contrast to the richness of the dish.
