- 1 lb ground sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 2 apples, peeled and chopped
- 8 cups cubed bread, toasted
- 2 cups chicken broth
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 teaspoon poultry seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, sauté the onion and celery until softened.
In a large bowl, combine the sausage, onion, celery, apples, bread cubes, chicken broth, melted butter, poultry seasoning, salt, and pepper.
Transfer the mixture to the crockpot and cook on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally.
