Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound flank steak trimmed and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil divided
  • 3-4 cups broccoli florets cut into small pieces

Sauce Ingredients

  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon toasted sesame oil
  • ¼ cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes or more, to taste

Cooking Instructions

  • Prep everything ahead of time as the actual cooking part goes very quickly. Trim fat from steak and slice it across the grain into thin bite-size pieces. Whisk together the sauce ingredients in a bowl.
  • Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to a large skillet over high heat until shimmering.
  • Add broccoli and cook for 4-5 minutes, tossing often until tender-crisp. Transfer to a plate.
  • Add remaining olive oil to the skillet. Add beef in a single layer and do not touch it for a minute. Stir and cook for another minute until slightly rare.
  • Return broccoli to the pan, pour in the sauce, and stir until coated and the sauce thickens (1-3 minutes). Remove from heat and serve immediately.

Notes
