  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped apples peeled

Topping

  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup sugar

Baking Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
  • Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
  • Fold in the chopped apples.
  • Scoop dough onto a baking sheet and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
  • Cool on wire rack.

Notes

For a chewier texture, refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
